Contrary to the stereotype, sweet is not so bad in the beginning of the meal. As some nutritionists say, a cake can play the role of first dish. All depends on how you are hungry and how long ago you ate. If you missed the reception of food, start the meal with a few slices of chocolate, a pair of candy, a piece of cake or ice cream. This will speed up the saturation of blood glucose, will reduce the feeling of hunger and will protect you from overeating.
Here are some interesting facts about confections you might not know:
-Americans over 18 years of age consume 65 percent of the candy which is produced each year.
-In the 1800's physicians commonly advised their broken-hearted patients to eat chocolate to calm their pining.
-The ancient Aztecs believed that chocolate was an aphrodisiac. It contains phenyl ethylamine (PEA), a natural substance that is said to stimulate the same reaction in the body as falling in love.
-A one-ounce piece of milk chocolate and a cup of decaffeinated coffee contain the same amount of caffeine.
- Some candies, such as lollipops, candy canes, gummy bears, gum drops, licorice twist and sour balls of fat and cholesterol, making them a healthier treat than many people realize.
